ALBUM: Lil Peep – Come Over When You’re Sober Pt 2 :The game lost Lil Peep on the verge of a true artistic breakthrough. His debut album, Come Over When You’re Sober, successfully blended moody “emo” foundations with hip-hop trappings, at the height of a new Soundcloud era.
Though some were hesitant to venture into unfamiliar territory, Peep’s music ultimately resonated with a wide variety of people, who made sure to keep his legacy alive. Now, thanks to contributors like Smokeasac, Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 2 is upon us, retaining the integrity of the original narrative. In fact, Peep’s mother has been vocal about her approval, calling it “the album Gus would have wanted.”
To dub the project a labor of love seems fitting, as it was curated by those closest to Peep during his creative peak. Lead singles “Runaway,” “Cry Alone,” and “Life Is Beautiful” paint a melancholic picture, though there is something bittersweet about the album’s arrival. He may be gone, but fans, friends, and family will once again be able to lose themselves in his music.
Rest in peace.
